George Duffy Memorial Hunter Classic
Beginning in 2001, the North Allegheny Horsemen’s Association had featured the George Duffy Memorial Hunter Challenge as part of their annual Hunter Schooling show. In 2003, the members of NAHA had graciously agreed to allow Horse on Course to include the Hunter Challenge as part of this show series. We are very proud to once again offer this Hunter Classic to our exhibitors.
This class is a memorial dedication to recognize the efforts of the late George Duffy, who for many years was the chairman of the NAHA Hunter show. His passion and dedication to that show was the inspiration for this show series. Not only did George work to achieve the highest of standards for the NAHA organization and the Hunter show he so loved, but he was always in pursuit of improvements to this show facility and to support the horsemen who use it, especially young people.
The class is open to all Junior and Amateur riders. The class will be scored as a one-round Hunter Classic over a hunter-type course of at least (8) fences. To be judged on performance and soundness with emphasis on manners. All entries must show in at least one full hunter division (at fence heights of 2’3” or higher) at each show prior to the Hunter Classic. You may choose between the fence heights of 2’3” – or – 2’6” (please declare height on entry blank). Heights judged and pinned together. Exclusive ribbons will be awarded through sixth place.
Class 36 Entry fee $15.00.
The scores from each Hunter Classic will be recorded during the show series and the horse/rider combination with the highest cumulative score at the end of the series will receive an embroidered championship cooler and a check for $200.00. The prizes will be awarded at the last show in the series (September 24th). The championship cooler has been donated by the North Allegheny Horsemen’s Association and will be presented by members of the organization. The cash prize is compliments of Horse on Course.
